[BHC] Furballs Newletter

Welcome to the first monthly news BHC news letter.

June 2008 have been busy for us.

The servers have had a pretty impressive rebound this month, due in no small part to all of us getting in there and playing our tails off.

Wild Weapons is the 42nd most popular UO server on the planet.
UO Modern Weapons is in the 62nd percentile
COD2 Wild Weapons is in the 94th percentile
COD2 Extreme 2.3 is in the 75th percentile
COD4 FFA Hard Core is in the 97th percentile
COD4 Mayhem is in the 76th percentile
COD4 Killzone is in the 85th percentile

The Mayhem server has been doing pretty well, and is developing a group of players that will show up as soon as a few of us do. The in-game voice chat makes it easy to get to know players, and also seems to keep tempers from flaring too much. We can all hear each other’s calm voices and they can tell you’re not some creepy kid that’s jeering at them, and everything stays cool. Mayhem is also punkbuster enabled now, so there’s been relatively little trouble there. Over all, it’s a great server.

FFA HC has been really busy this month and is turning into a BHC happy place. A great server with very little trouble that requires very little effort to maintain. For the first couple weeks after patch 1.6 came out, we ran a short rotation of the three new maps. That brought in a lot of visitors who were eager to play the new maps… but like everything else, they got a little stale, so we worked them back into the full rotation of maps. If you're looking for a fight, this server is rockin' day and night.

Nap loaded the newest version of the Extreme mod on the Killzone Extreme server, which brought some cool/interesting additions to the game and brought some interesting problems along with it too. One cool perk to the mod was you could earn a ride in a C130 where you could kill players on the ground by: shooting them with puff the magic dragon, shelling them with a aerial cannon, or dropping a nuke on them. Interesting glitches were also noticed: You could be dropped from the plane to your death, and you could be dropped off at 10,000’ and not fall and just run around up there and shoot down at people. It wasn't uncommon to spawn in invisibility mode, which was tempting when you’re running a close second place, but most everyone had been nading themselves to become visible again (way to go guys). Nap worked hard to tweek this server to everyone’s liking, but in the end he reverted back to the original Extreme v1 mod. Nap also loaded a couple new maps on this server that are really cool. Thanks Nap!

COD2 Wild Weapons has in-game voice now. Hit Z to talk.

The COD2 eXtreme server has been getting quite a bit of traffic by our members, which is really cool, and totally justified. If you haven’t played our Extreme server lately, please come join us, because it’s really fun. Any other servers all seem to have their little issues, but this server is set up just right and will remind you why you got into gaming in the first place.

The UO Modern Weapons server was shut down for a week, but was fired back up by popular demand.

We sorely missed The Sniper most of this month during his move to Missouri. He was keeping in touch whenever he stoped at the coffee shop. (so if he seemed a little jittery…) He’s finally settled into the Sniper residence and got a high-speed connection, so all is right with the world again. I imagine he’s got some pent up gaming anger, so I’d give Sniper a wide berth for a couple weeks until he gets it out of his system. (yikes!)

It’s good to have you back in the game in one piece, ColdBeer.

Most of you know that Sky Pilot is a spiritual guy. He was recently made an elder at his church, and has also been given some other responsibilities there. I’m really proud of you Lonnie, and I know you’ll make a difference in people’s lives. It’s really cool to see your friends achieve success, and even though I don’t think this was ever a goal of Sky’s, I’m sure it’s well deserved.

This month we added two new members: Dirtspaz and Str1de
It's great to have you in the clan Str1de!
And Dirtspaz, all I can say is... Finally! lol... so glad you put on BHC tags, bro.

We added some really cool recruits this month too. Chubby, Drago, Femme Fatale, The Gunny, jimjimman, and Mr. Slave all have r[BHC] before their names now. Welcome to the clan, ya'll !!!
(I'd like to say "Finally" to you too, Gunny)

*edit* - Trippin Billie has also been added as a new recruit in June. Glad to have you with us, bro.

Thunderguts left us this month, which is sad. Thunder was one of the first friends I made in BHC, and he really made an impression on me. Cool guy, good sport, mellow, funny... Good luck, my friend. Don't be a stranger.

Natedogg and Speedball were both moved up to COD4 admin this month, which is great because they’ll fill a couple time-slots that were in need of an admin’s attention. We really appreciate you guy taking on the extra responsibility, and we know you’ll do a great job.

Furball's Rant:
Not feeling like ranting as much as saying "Thanks so much" to Nap for all the work you've been doing on the servers. You do a great job, and you make it look so easy. We really appreciate all you do.

I'd also like to invite everyone to join us on TeamSpeak. It adds so much to the game to be joking around with all your friends while you're fraggin', and we'd love to have you hang out with us in TS. Feel free to invite players in the game that aren't in the clan too. It's a great way for them to get to know us, and vice versa.

A big 'Thank You' to everyone who contributed to the BHC server fund. We really appreciate it!

Thanks! Furball
